19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
